Distance Measurement

Distance Measurement connects points in order and displays the total distance and the distance of each adjacent segment.

Steps

  1. Select Distance on Home.
  2. Add the first point using Mark Crosshair Position or Mark My Location.
  3. Add a second point and any additional points. Distance calculation begins with two points.
  4. Read the total in the upper-left card. Tap the summary to view segment details.
  5. Tap any map point to edit its name, note, attachments, or delete it.
  6. Tap save in the upper-right corner and enter a record name.

Points are connected in the order they were added. If you delete a middle point, its neighboring points are connected directly and the total is recalculated.

Calculation method

Under More → Distance & Area Calculation, choose:

  • Local Planar Approximation: The default and suitable for everyday, small-area measurements.
  • Ellipsoidal Calculation: Based on the WGS84 ellipsoid and better for large areas or stricter calculation requirements.

Change units under More → Units → Distance Units to Metric, Imperial, or Aviation/Marine.

Notes

  • Crosshair measurement depends on map-selection accuracy and is not a field survey.
  • My Location measurement is affected by GPS drift. Wait for accuracy to stabilize before sampling.
  • Results are estimates and do not replace certified surveying data.

Location and sensor readings are for reference only. Always assess your surroundings.
